Treasury reports electricity VAT removal taking effect on 1 October. The linked DESNZ explainer (26 August) specifies 0% for household electricity and qualifying non-domestic electricity previously eligible for 5%, funded for FY 2026–27. Gas and the standard VAT rate are not covered by this entry. This is an implementation announcement, not a complete budget or a review of the legislation. No aggregate fiscal projection is inferred.

Our Plan to get Britain back on Track ↗

Conservative Party

The current party plan updates its savings claim from the £47 billion announced at Conference 2025 to £71 billion a year in 2029–30, allocating £35.5 billion to deficit reduction under its stated rule. It also proposes three years of zero VAT on household energy and halving employer National Insurance for workers aged 21–24. The 7.5% employer rate shown in the summary is arithmetic from the party's halving pledge and HMRC's current 15% headline rate, not a separately printed party figure. The page does not provide a complete annual revenue-and-spending budget or implementation dates.
